David M. Alt is a partner who regularly represents clients in a wide variety of litigation matters, with particular emphasis on serving the transportation and insurance industries. David’s experience includes counseling clients and representing their interests in cases involving contractual disputes, the Federal Employers’ Liability Act, insurance coverage, reinsurance, products liability, professional liability, and insurer bad faith. Recently, David was voted by his peers as a Rising Star in a recent survey of Illinois attorneys.
Recently, David was lead trial attorney for a railroad contractor in a three-week jury trial wherein he won a defense verdict in his client’s favor. Just prior trial, the last settlement demand to his client was in excess of $5 million.
In addition to his trial work, David regularly represents clients at reinsurance arbitrations. David has been active in ARIAS events and has spent considerable time training former insurance and reinsurance industry professionals to become ARIAS-certified arbitrators and umpires.
He received a J.D. from Loyola University, Chicago School of Law, where he was a member of the Chicago Bar Association Moot Court Team and received CALI awards for highest grades in Legal Writing and Advocacy. He received a B.B.A. in Business Finance, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.
David is admitted to the Illinois and Wisconsin Bars. He is also a member of the trial bar for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. David is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Wisconsin Bar Association, and Chicago Bar Association. |
