Stanley
V. Figura is a partner whose practice focuses on insurance
coverage litigation, including product liability, asbestos
bodily injury, and pollution coverage claims asserted
by various heavy machinery and building product manufacturers;
oil, natural gas, mining, and chemical companies; and
waste haulers and landfill owners and operators. He had
an instrumental role in obtaining a favorable judgment
on late notice grounds impacting tens of million of dollars
in claimed coverage following a lengthy trial in the Celotex
bankruptcy proceeding in Tampa, Florida.
His
significant decisions include:

as to asbestos bodily injury and asbestos building claims
on late notice grounds following trial)

judgment as to asbestos bodily injury claims on late
notice grounds)
He
received a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center
in 1987 where he was a member of the Editorial Board of
the Georgetown Law Journal and where he received an International
Academy of Trial Lawyers Advocacy Award. He received a
B.A. cum laude in Economics and Government from Georgetown
University in 1983.
He
is admitted to the Illinois and District of Columbia Bars,
the United States District Court for the Northern District
of Illinois, and the United States Court of Appeals for
the Seventh Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar
Association.
