Laura
Ann McArdle
is a partner at Bates & Carey LLP. Laura practices
in the areas of insurance coverage counseling and litigation
and commercial litigation. She has successfully handled
coverage matters involving mass tort, product liability,
deceptive trade practices, false advertisement, trademark
infringement, copyright infringement, construction defect,
environmental and professional liability claims in both
state and federal courts throughout the nation. In the
areas of commercial and general liability litigation,
Laura has successfully represented large corporations
and closely held businesses in matters involving breach
of contract, fraud, professional malpractice and toxic
tort claims. She also has environmental litigation experience
which includes representing owners and transporters in
CERCLA recovery actions. She previously worked for the
United States Environmental Protection Agency in Chicago,
Illinois.

successful coverage matters include: - Westchester
Fire Insurance Company v. Stewart & Stevenson, 31 S.W.3d 654 (Tex. App. 2000)(appellate
court entered a take nothing judgment in favor of the insurer based upon the non-drop
down endorsement contained in umbrella policy).

Manufacturing Company v. Westchester Fire Insurance Company, et al., Civil Action
No. 2001CH11027 (Bexar County, Texas 2002)(summary judgment granted under business
risk exclusions).
- Westchester
Fire Insurance Company v. Manor Care, et al. (Bexar County, Texas 2001)(summary
judgment granted that anti-subrogation argument raised by insured did not preclude
recovery).
Laura
received a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1993 and a B.A. in English
with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1988. She studied
at Brighton Polytechnic in Brighton, England. She
is admitted to the Illinois Bar and the United States District Court for the Northern
District of Illinois. She is a member of the Illinois State and Chicago Bar Associations.
