Joseph E. Tennial is an associate at BatesCarey who concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial general liability, coverage litigation, general commercial litigation, and reinsurance. Joseph is also a contributor to BatesCarey’s Opioid Coverage Task Force, which is dedicated to monitoring and analyzing lawsuits filed by state and local governments nationwide against pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, and retail pharmacies in order to assess insurance coverage issues and the risk of exposure of BatesCarey’s clients and the insurance industry at large.

Joseph earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law with certificates in both International Law and Advocacy. During his time at Loyola, Joseph also earned the prestigious Philip H. Corboy Fellowship in Trial Advocacy, where he competed in national trial competitions, resulting in various titles and awards for trial preparation and presentation. Joseph also received two CALI Awards for Excellence and served on the executive board for the Loyola Federal Bar Association.

Prior to joining BatesCarey, Joseph gained extensive government experience while working in the Office of the Governor of Illinois, and the Office of U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois.
