David J. Buishas Selected to 40 Under Forty List by Chicago Lawyer


BatesCarey is proud to announce David J. Buishas has been recognized in Chicago Lawyer’s 40 Under Forty list. David has been honored among this elite group of attorneys for his exemplary practice in insurance law and dedication to client satisfaction.

David’s practice focuses on representing both domestic and international insurers at the trial and appellate levels in insurance coverage disputes and complex commercial litigation.

Most notably, David served an instrumental role in developing and framing arguments that won dismissal of numerous putative class action lawsuits arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. In another high stakes case, David successfully resolved a contentious insurance dispute involving a $28 million consent judgment and bad faith claims for failure to settle.

Additionally, David has significant experience litigating cases involving product liability, railroad liability, breach of contract and civil rights claims. He currently serves as coordinating counsel for a national nonprofit organization committed to providing behavioral and mental health services in correctional institutions among other professional affiliations.
