BatesCarey is pleased to welcome Courtney Scott to the firm, where her two decades of cyber and privacy coverage work will strengthen the firm’s Cyber Risks, Technology, and Data Security practice group. Her arrival comes as the group continues to take on a growing volume of complex matters, mirroring the broader expansion of cyber risk across the insurance industry.

For more than 20 years, Courtney has represented insurers in cyber and privacy liability matters, guiding carriers through data breach evaluation, investigation, and remediation. She also serves as coverage and monitoring counsel to insurers across first-party losses, third-party litigation, and regulatory investigations, work that puts her among the first calls that carriers make when a breach occurs.

Blending experience as a coverage and commercial litigator and as a claims manager at a Lloyd’s of London syndicate, Courtney provides comprehensive counsel with both insurer and litigator perspectives.

Courtney is based in New York and represents clients in state and federal court, and in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

BatesCarey’s Cyber Risks, Technology, and Data Security practice represents insurers in cyber and privacy matters, often serving as notice counsel when breaches occur and assessing coverage across industries including healthcare, financial institutions, and retail.
