Samuel J. Head handles complex coverage disputes for primary and excess insurers and reinsurers, with a concentration in commercial general liability (CGL) matters. Two emerging areas anchor a growing portion of his practice: per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) coverage litigation and opioid-related coverage disputes.
Sam plays a key role on the firm’s Social Media Litigation Team, advising on significant rulings, bellwether trials, settlements, and emerging liability and coverage issues in the nationwide litigation against major social media platforms.
As a member of the PFAS team, Sam is actively litigating the nation’s first wave of coverage disputes involving the “forever chemical.” He is deeply involved in the discovery issues shaping this multi-billion-dollar litigation. As part of the Opioid Task Force, he monitors and analyzes opioid lawsuits filed against pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, and retailers to assess coverage implications for insurer clients nationwide.
