Scott Carey is a founding partner of BatesCarey LLP and a member of the management committee. His practice encompasses a wide variety of insurance-related areas, including coverage, reinsurance, transportation, professional liability, mass tort and insurance coverage litigation. Scott's transportation practice includes significant involvement in railroad, trucking, pipeline and oil and gas industries. Scott also counsels insurer-clients in claims administration, brokerage and regulatory matters, and he has served as U.S. Claims Counsel for Bermuda insurers, including industry captives and direct insurers and reinsurers. Before entering private practice, Scott was the senior claims officer of an international professional liability/surplus lines underwriting facility.

Represented Bermuda insurers in connection with massive wildfire losses involving railroads and utility companies as policyholders with favorable settlements accomplished.
Represents U.S., Bermuda and London Market insurers in connection with dozens of large railroad losses, including derailments and collisions resulting in deaths, injuries and evacuations with focus on containment of exposure and coordination of defense of mass tort litigation.
