BatesCarey Earns 2025 Civic Education Appreciation Award from the Chicago Bar Association’s Lawyers in the Classroom Program
BatesCarey will receive the 2025 Civic Education Appreciation Award from the Chicago Bar Association’s Edward J. Lewis II Lawyers in the Classroom program. The award recognizes the firm’s active involvement in civic education. BatesCarey attorneys Joshua Boggioni, Andrea Catalano, Doris Cikopana, Cole Geyen, Clayton Goldman, Abigail Rocap and Bradley Williams led classroom courses for seventh- and eighth-grade students at Chase Elementary School in Chicago and fifth-grade students at Longfellow School in Oak Park, Illinois, helping students explore the U.S. Constitution, the justice system and legal careers.
For over 40 years, the Chicago Bar Association’s Edward J. Lewis II Lawyers in the Classroom initiative has connected attorney volunteers with second- through eighth-grade classrooms across Chicagoland. Each year, over 600 attorneys participate, reaching more than 60 schools and over 5,000 students.
In addition to teaching Chicago-area students, BatesCarey is also a School Partner Sponsor, helping expand the program’s interactive curriculum to reach new schools and students in the community.
“BatesCarey is a long-time supporter of Lawyers in the Classroom’s mission to educate the next generation on civics and legal topics,” said founding partner Robert J. Bates, Jr. “We are proud to witness the success of the program and are grateful for our recognition as this year’s Civic Education Appreciation Award recipient.”
The firm will be honored with the award at the 4th Annual Civic Education Appreciation Awards on November 6th. To learn more about the awards ceremony and to join the celebration, register for the event here.
